Department of Industrial & System Engineering, IIT Kharagpur has a legacy of more than 40 years as one of the premier department involved in developing the competence in the domain of Industrial and System Engineering in India. In the era od globalization and rapid development in technology, integration of various elements of the organization within and across the value chain has emerged as a challenge, but I am proud to say that Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering has successfully addressed this challenge. The department is contributing towards the changing industry needs and focuses on the sustainable development of the country. This has become possible due to exemplary efforts of the faculty in teaching and research both and of the highly intellectual students joining the oldest IIT and the department in India.
